Pattern Drafting Part 1: Creating Bodice Sloper

Would you like to design your own patterns? Pattern drafting is a process of taking measurements and creating a sloper. The sloper you make in class becomes the beginning point from which all other patterns can be designed. This class is first in a three part series and will focus on the bodice.

This is NOT a beginner class. If you are new to garment sewing, you will want to take the Intro to Garment Series first.

This class is for the intermediate garment Sewist that wants to improve the fit of personal designs.

In this class you will learn how to take detailed measurements, plot them on paper and create curved necklines. You will also learn how to insert darts and where to place them so that you can move fullness of the fabric towards or away from specific parts of the body. You will complete a bodice sloper, talk about how to add seam allowance and the need to sew a muslin to check the fit.

PLEASE NOTE: Students will not sew in this class, sewing the muslin is homework.
