Intro to Garment Sewing 2.0

Take the guesswork out of reading patterns with part 2 of our Intro To Garment Series.

In this class, you will learn the differences between indie and commercial patterns and how to size to the correct pattern. You'll also learn what all those markings on the patterns are, and how to transfer them onto your fabric.

Students will end this class by creating a simple boxer short.

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Ages 15+

Must know how to operate a sewing machine without assistance and general sewing terminology.

Intro to Garment Sewing
Materials Included: All materials needed for this class can be purchased for an additional $35. If you purchase Class + Materials, we will provide a variety of fabric kits to select from at the beginning of class.

If you opt to only pay for the class, these are the materials you will need to bring:

  • Essential Boxer Pattern
  • 1 1/2 yards quilting cotton
  • (2) Yds 1 inch elastic
  • Matching thread
Requirements: Additional items you will need but are offered at classroom stations include:

  • Sewing machine (you may bring your own or use the classroom sewing machines)
  • Pins (included at classroom station)
  • Fabric Marking tool (included at classroom station)
  • Sewing gauge (included at classroom station)
  • Shears (included at classroom station)
